Membership and Annual Fund
Surflight Theatre’s Annual
Fund coincides with our fiscal year — January-December. This fund is
renewed each January and the proceeds support our operating expenses.
The majority of our operating budget is devoted to expenses related to
our productions and educational programs. Such costs include sets, costumes,
props, lighting and sound equipment and housing costs for our cast & crew
and stipends for our interns.
By contributing at least $40 to our Annual Fund,
you become a member of the Joseph P. Hayes Theatre, Inc.
Membership entitles you to attend our general membership meeting held
every October and to nominate and vote for members of the Joseph P. Hayes
Theatre Inc. Board of Trustees. The
various levels of membership offer assorted benefits, ranging from receiving a
membership card and our newsletter, Surf’s Up, to discounts on
MainStage tickets, to pre-seating for Children’s Theatre, to season tickets
for all MainStage productions for the season.

Capital Campaign
The goal
of the campaign is to retire the 4 million dollar debt incurred when Joseph P.
Hayes Theatre, Inc. purchased Surflight in 2001, allowing the theatre to operate
as a nonprofit entity.
Funds
raised through this 4-year campaign will also be used for capital improvements
to our theatre building, shops and housing facilities.
While donors receive no tangible benefits for contributing to the Capital
Campaign, all contributions will be recognized in our playbills and souvenir
books for the entire length of the campaign (2001-2005).
There are several contribution levels and your contributions are
acknowledged on a cumulative basis. Therefore,
if you contributed $50 the first year and then $150 each of the next three
years, you would be acknowledged as a “Friend” the first year, as a
“Supporter” the second year, and as a “Patron” by the fourth year.
We also offer naming opportunities as part of the Capital Fund, allowing
your donation to be recognized in perpetuity.
Naming opportunities range from the theatre seats and bricks on our
sidewalk to the theatre building itself. Patrons
have now named over 70 bricks as well as our Box Office, Lobby, Artistic
Personnel Residence Living Room, Cast House Kitchen and two of the bedrooms in
the Artistic Personnel Residence. Donors
who take advantage of naming opportunities are acknowledged in our lobby
display, entrance to the room or building named and in our playbills.
Contributions of a $1,000 or more can be pledged over a period of up to 4
years.
