Jerry Herman’s masterful score recalls the hysterically funny story of matchmaker Dolly Gallagher Levi as she makes a match for herself with Horace Vandergelder.  One of Mr. Herman’s best scores includes Put on Your Sunday Clothes, Before the Parade Passes By, It Only Takes a Moment, So Long, Dearie and perhaps the most famous song in Musical Theatre History, Hello, Dolly!

Gershwin meets the Wild West in this hilarious musical comedy.  Bobby Child, a banker who would rather sing and dance, must travel from New York to Deadrock , Nevada to foreclose on a theatre.  He ends up falling in love with the owner’s daughter and puts on a show to save the theatre.  Gershwin’s magnificent score includes Someone to Watch Over Me, Embraceable You, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, But Not For Me and the show-stopping I Got Rhythm.

Based on the 1984 hit movie, this Broadway Hit from 1999 comes to Surflight in the New Jersey Professional Premiere Production.  Footloose is the story of a young man from the city living in a puritanical small town where dancing and rock 'n' roll are forbidden. The wonderful pop score includes Almost Paradise , Let's Hear It for the Boy, Holding Out for a Hero and, of course, Footloose.  A New Jersey Professional Premiere.

Based on stories by Sholem Aleichem, this classic musical tells the story of Tevye, a poor dairyman who tries to instill in his 5 daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.  This incredible Jerry Bock-Sheldon Harnick score features Tradition, Matchmaker, If I were a Rich Man, To Life and the hauntingly beautiful Sunrise , Sunset.

The story of a marriage is at the center of this intimate and nostalgic musical by Tom Jones & Harvey Schmidt, the authors of The Fantasticks.  The show begins with Michael & Agnes on their wedding day and traces their life together through 50 years of wedding night jitters, raising a family, negotiating mid-life crises, quarrels & reconciliation, but in the end we know why they sing My Cup Runneth Over.

                BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS (Last produced in 1986) By Neil Simon

This is the first part of Neil Simon’s autobiographical trilogy: a portrait of the writer as a Brooklyn teenager in 1937.  His mind is full of fiercely fantasized dreams of baseball and dimly fantasized images of girls. The play captures a few days in the life a struggling lower middle class Jewish household.  One of Neil Simon’s funniest, richest and consequently most affecting plays.

                LEND ME A TENOR (Last produced in 1991) By Ken Ludwig

                Join us for the funniest play of the season.  Through a hilarious series of mishaps, world famous opera tenor Tito Morelli is given a double dose of tranquilizers, which mix with the booze he has consumed, and he can’t go on.  A replacement is found, but Tito wakes up.  Meanwhile two women are vying for Tito’s affection, but neither woman knows there are two Titos.  This farce is one of the funniest plays ever.   Get ready to laugh!

This World Premiere play with music includes selections from Mark Twain’s famous books and short stories that reflect his sublime storytelling technique.  Several songs from the turn of the (last) century played and sung by the Actors will help highlight Twain’s high regard for humanity and his hatred of injustice, imperialism and stupidity - with a pen dipped in humorous, satiric and, sometimes, poisonous ink.

This musical re-telling of Dickens’ classic tale about Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future has one of the most beautiful scores we have found.  Coupled with a book that is culled directly from the original “Ghostly Little Book” by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer is the best version of this story we have seen.  Don’t miss it!
